This Is A Terrorist Act

A poetry collection originally titled DEADLINE has morphed into 2 or 3 collections stretching from 1985 to 2005 to 2019. Poems from my days as an editor at AKWESASNE NOTES (Mohawk Nation) 1972-75, 1983-86, 1995-96, where we founded INDIAN TIME community Haudenosaunee newspaper and AKWEKON Native Arts Journal. After 2012 and 2013, I have newer material written after being invited to TALKING STICK FESTIVAL in Vancouver BC, and, LOFT Literary Center in Minneapolis MN.

The concept is presented that we are entering a new phase of state sponsored Terrorist Acts against Native & Indigenous people and also against ordinary American citizens. My early poems of 30 years ago are still relevant in that the stories are the same, the geography is the same, the tribes and Native Nations are often the same but perhaps only names change. When young people realize that these events, narratives and stories started before they were born, only to continue into today, do they start to realize this concept and reality.
